The home, originally typical of its area and era, underwent a complete facelift to enhance both its aesthetic and functionality. From the outset, the exterior was refreshed with a new navy front door, timber battens, and a cohesive palette of oak, stone, whites, and layered blue tones carried throughout. Internally, the entry was reimagined with a dramatic two-storey batten wall, concealed garage access, and a sculptural vertical fireplace.
A key focus was improving flow for entertaining, with major spatial reconfiguration on the ground floor to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection for large gatherings. The former Study was integrated into custom joinery as a flexible workspace, while upgraded outdoor areas, including a full kitchen, further enhanced usability.
Upstairs, the Kitchen and adjoining spaces were revitalised through smart, cost-effective updates: retaining existing elements while introducing new joinery, finishes, and detailing for warmth and cohesion. The design reflects the client’s preference for a coastal-inspired aesthetic, incorporating textured materials, wallpaper, and warmer metallic accents throughout. The Primary Suite was also transformed, featuring a custom window seat and a reconfigured dressing room that improved light, flow, and functionality. Sustainability played a key role, with much of the original structure and joinery retained and refined.
Overall, the project highlights how strategic spatial planning and thoughtful design can significantly elevate both the liveability and character of a home.
