More than a residence

Welcome to Hai Lang: derived from the Mandarin word for wave, a concept that informs the architectural language of the home. Designed by JIH Building Design, the residence draws on the fluidity and rhythm of water, expressed through form, movement, and spatial continuity.

More than a residence, Hai Lang is a study in considered design: where innovation and restraint intersect. The collaboration between Building Designer, Interior Designer, and Construction team has produced a home that is both progressive and deeply resolved, quietly extending the boundaries of contemporary Australian design.

Birdblack Design approached the interiors as an extension of the architecture, seeking a seamless dialogue between built form and internal space. This is evident in the clarity of the layout, the precision of material selections, and the continuity of design language throughout. Each element has been carefully considered to contribute to a cohesive, flowing whole.

Furniture and finishes are curated with intention, complementing the architectural palette while reinforcing a sense of cohesion. Timber tones, textiles, and material contrasts are aligned with a restrained, minimalist approach: allowing space, light, and form to take precedence. The result is an interior that feels both composed and effortless.

Hai Lang unfolds as a calm and immersive environment: each space offering a sense of balance, warmth, and quiet retreat. It is a home designed not only to be experienced, but to be lived in over time, with a presence that is both enduring and deeply considered.
