The Laundry is tucked behind the kitchen at the very end of the Ground Floor and opens onto the backyard. The clear highlight of this Laundry is that it simply does not look at all like a laundry. In fact, if you casually walked through the space, you may miss which room you are actually in, and just head into the backyard none the wiser!
This entire Ground Floor space is excessively open-plan, with no doors separating any of the rooms. For such a large and entertaining family, and this open space, hidden storage was imperative. This means that absolutely everything is hidden away amongst the joinery and we are left with clean benchtops, open spaces, multiple cupboards and absolutely none of that hideous laundry vibe. There are cupboards for the multiple hampers: white clothes, colours, and work clothes; there are deep drawers for the washing baskets, the ironing board is concealed, as are all the appliances and there is even extra storage for brooms, mops and all the family’s extra linen.
Every vantage point of this open space displays cohesion throughout and the many windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the rooms, bouncing light off many of our stunning features. The Laundry in particular has an oversized splashback window, overlooking the backyard, very typical of a kitchen window, again creating that cohesion throughout the entire space.
Stunning brass and marble are evident throughout the Ground Floor, as are the glass, black and metallic finishes which trail throughout the home, including in all the feature lighting. The flooring is a fabulous timber tile, bringing the warmth of timber, but not the maintenance. Tiling is much more user friendly and perfect for such an entertaining family.
