In our client’s words, “Our house is 20 years old and needs a birthday”.

Luckily, Birdblack Design knows how to party!! A monochromatic luxe interior with black and white cabinetry seems like the perfect aesthetic to get the party ball rolling.

Our design brief was to modernise the existing Kitchen with a lovely new Kitchen Island for prepping, two large under-bench ovens, a buffet for all their crockery needs and a Walk-In Pantry with extra storage! As we have mentioned multiple times to our followers, the Birdblack Team are foodies. What this guarantees our clients is that your bench space and storage will be maximised. We are very familiar with the necessities of entertaining!

The Kitchen Island is a Smartstone Statuario Venato manmade stone featuring a striking blue vein and waterfall ends. The Kitchen perimeter benchtops feature a subtle benchtop colour choice which is seen again in the splashback.  The full height cabinetry centred within the room conceals the pantry and the integrated fridge and freezer. To the right of the full height cabinetry is the Walk-In Pantry; this space does not feature a door as it isn’t directly visible from the Kitchen Island. The splashback window in the WIP is one of our favourite features. To the left of the full height cabinetry is a servery window with bi-fold doors, the perfect addition for an entertaining family and a love of outdoor living.

Birdblack Design also renovated three Bathrooms: the Main Bathroom, the Ensuite and the Powder Room.

Within the Main Bathroom, we transformed the existing bathroom and separate Water Closet into one glorious room. The spacious shower with a frameless glass shower screen is absolutely divine, as is the tremendous white acrylic freestanding bath. A wall to wall ledge provides the perfect space for your beauty products and lotions, or even a cheeky glass of wine with candles. The gorgeously light coloured tiles feature a beautiful subtle movement. Paired with polished chrome tapware and accessories, this Bathroom is breathtaking. The toilet is hidden from sight as you step into this luxe space; tucked behind the custom vanity. We specified a toilet with an in-wall cistern as this creates an elegant, minimal aesthetic without taking up any extra room. The custom vanity with black cabinetry and concealed handles includes an open shelf for displaying and storing towels. Wall to wall mirror cabinetry adds extra storage whilst visually opening up the space as well.

The Powder Room on the Ground Floor is designed specifically to impress our clients’ guests. The existing space featured terracotta and white tiles – very late 1990’s, and again, our brief was to “give this home a birthday”. The Powder Room mirrors the Main Bathroom aesthetic, allowing our clients’ guests to experience the home as a whole: another frameless glass shower, the light tiles which feature a subtle movement, the black custom vanity and polished chrome. This Powder Room allows the guests to feel like part of the family!

The Ensuite off the Master Bedroom is exemplary. The floors and walls are tiled with a striking marble look tile and immediately lends to a luxurious aesthetic. We maintained both the existing layout and the existing windows, choosing to simply add functionality and engage the Classic aesthetic. The dated corner shower was replaced with a spacious shower; the specified custom black cabinetry adds a contemporary element, as does the white manmade stone benchtop with the round counter basin.

Common elements between all three Bathrooms are the wall to wall ledges, the mirror cabinetry and the polished chrome tapware and accessories. These subtle similarities create cohesion and continuity throughout the home, showcasing harmony throughout all the freshly designed spaces.
