The Olive Branch – a stunning space and multi-aspect business comprising of a front of house florist, a café and delicious sourdough bakery. The previous café was outdated, yearning for a contemporary, lively touch. Our new owners were ready to give this space a fresh new look and purpose.
The brief was to provide a multipurpose space which would not only showcase the art of floristry but also provide an ambient space for café goers to retreat to for fresh sourdough bread and delicious coffee.
There was a strong focus on incorporating floristry in a contemporary manner. This was to include the display of market fresh flowers and indoor plants throughout the whole space, along with having a shared workspace which creates interaction between customers and the florist. This also provides a great area for floristry workshops with the inclusion of a large round communal table.
The materials selected along with the existing polished concrete flooring created a neutral colour palette for the space. This allowed for colour to be immersed into the space through custom flower boxes and hanging openshelving; the perfect showcase of beautiful colours and textures through flora.
The space is bright and inviting, with natural light gracing the space through the store’s large front window. The floristry area includes an L-shape concrete benchtop which is shared between the floristry workspace and customer seating.
The concrete works in harmony with the satin white cabinetry, plywood and black powder-coated steel frames and colourful highlights featured throughout the space.
The café tables constructed by our handy clients feature Oregon timber and black steel, accompanied with white painted chairs: the perfect match to the concrete benchtop and plywood finishes.
The point of sale joinery is clad in a stunning dusky pink vertical timber feature. Beneath the glass pastry display are more open plywood shelves. This is the perfect place to display the store’s exclusive candle range. The space also features an empty white wall, providing the perfect opportunity to integrate some local art into the space.
The cafe has multiple seating options fit for any occasion, including high seating and table seating. We even designed a custom window seat on wheels for extra comfort. Whether you need space for a small meeting, a coffee date, treating yourself to some ‘me time’ or are in need of a stunning bouquet of flowers, The Olive Branch is for you.
