If you have lived in, or ever visited, Wollongong, NSW, it is likely you know the iconic name: ‘Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant’.
‘Harbourfront’, as the locals call it, has been established for over 30 years, delivering fresh ingredients, delicious seafood, exquisite menus and contemporary aesthetics for decades.
In 2019, it was time again to refresh and our clients engaged Birdblack Design for their facelift. In case the name didn’t give it away, this establishment sits right on the waterfront, with extensive glass windows providing nature the centre stage. Inspired by these beautiful harbour surroundings, we infused the colours into our aesthetics, inviting the outside in and creating delectable ambience.
We have all had dining experiences affected (both positively and negatively) by ambience, so Birdblack Design ensured every detail was accounted for, including acoustic panelling on the ceiling. No one likes a restaurant that echoes hollow noises, or a dining experience that leaves you with a pounding headache. The acoustic panelling provides a softness that you will appreciate! Brass highlights between the panelling add opulence and charm, worthy of a multi award-winning restaurant.
Speaking of ambience, we can all agree comfortability is a must. Birdblack Design created intimate mood lighting throughout the dining spaces with new table lamps adding warmth and cosiness to the appeal. Fabulous new dining chairs imported all the way from Italy, ensure you can sit and chat all night, long after the meal is complete.
On the Upper Level, the custom carpet picks up on the scenery of Wollongong Harbour. Three storeys high, yet you feel at one with nature. The entry level is donned with chevron-patterned timber-look flooring, immediately bringing class to the entrance. Through to the bar, and again we see ocean blues in the chevron patterning. The brass kickboard and stunning terrazzo benchtop screams elegance and you could enjoy many of wines at this bar, quite comfortably!
Extra pizzazz is found in the custom joinery with integrated lighting, allowing the glassware and decanters to shine. An absolutely beautiful bar, to be sure, and well worth the visit! Birdblack Design: delivering perfection in terms of pattern, colour, finishes and furniture. We can’t wait to sample the new ‘Harbourfront’ deliciousness ourselves.
