This scrumptious café is located in South Nowra and are famous for their huge pie range. The brief was to expand the space astronomically, and Birdblack Design really hit the nail on the head! Now Earnest Arthur boasts a shopfront, a full bakery with service all day long, and delicious coffees.

Prior to the renovation, their space was so small – there was no room for even indoor seating. The warehouse storeroom was underutilised, so by ripping out a wall, there is now wonderful space for communal seating where people can enjoy their lunch or coffee.

The owners commissioned local artist Samuel Hall to paint the mural which is a focal point indoors. The exposed brick is the existing brick, giving a nod to the history of the café. Polished concrete runs along the entire interior and flows to the external where there is even more custom seating.

The open kitchen gives a somewhat industrial feel where the customers and clientele can watch the bakers busily making pies. Vertical baton timbers are a feature both inside and out. Subway tiles in the background are green which pops and lends itself to the greenery overhanging, giving that open Modern Industrial warehouse feel. A must-see venue for delicious and innovative pies and fabulous coffee, along with beans for sale and so much more.
