Meet the Team: Naomi
Join us in officially welcoming our first Studio Manager to the team! Naomi comes with a fascinating background and a couple of “If you know, you know” secrets, so strap in for a fun “Getting to know Naomi” ride!
Having studied Medical Science (graduated with Distinction in 2003) and Work Safety (2004) at University of Wollongong, Naomi then founded local café Lee and Me in 2008, and local bar His Boy Elroy in 2012, developing attentive and intuitive customer relationships, and business management credentials. Naomi offers a multifaceted and dependable set of skills, ensuring the Studio’s seamless operation.
If you are a Wollongong or Sydney local, then it is likely you have heard of Lee and Me, the local icon café (and clothing store in its early days). Naomi, her husband Ben, his sister Shay, and her husband Lee all dipped their toes in young entrepreneurship in 2008 – and soon after, dove right in!
In 2012, the awesome foursome saw a gap in the market for a day/night venue in Wollongong and launched His Boy Elroy in Globe Lane, Wollongong, bringing something new and fresh to a previously dead section of town.
So, what about downtime? The Hudson family lived on an acreage amongst farming land in Gerringong for 3 years. They bought a 2-bedroom cottage and transformed it into their dream home including growing their own produce and raising their own chickens. Eventually it was time to return to the city and settle back into Wollongong.
The family enjoys time spent together at the beach, around the pool, or playing a semi-competitive game of scrabble or monopoly. Naomi herself enjoys photography, netball, and macramé.
Naomi joins the Birdblack Design Team as Studio Manager. She brings a wealth of operations management and organisational experience to the Birdblack Design team. She has project managed hospitality and retail fit outs, various home renovations and builds, all resulting in a deep interest in interior design and architecture. A perfect fit!
During her time at university, Naomi gained many study and life skills through the processes of critical thinking, experimentation, investigation, and problem solving. Owning multiple businesses has gifted her with unique perspectives and has afforded numerous opportunities to learn skills she may not have otherwise gained. These tools have been invaluable and will be well utilised here in the Birdblack Design Studio.
We can’t wait for you to meet her!
